Private Commissions are bespoke hair creations developed for clients seeking something beyond the ordinary.
From original character concepts and alternative fashion to performance pieces, editorial designs, cosplay-inspired aesthetics, and entirely imagined creations, each commission is developed individually through the Levels By Lia creative and technical process.
You do not need to arrive with every detail figured out.
You need an idea.
What Can Be Commissioned?
Private Commissions may include custom human-hair or synthetic wigs, depending on the concept, desired result, intended use, and budget.
Projects may incorporate:
- Custom color and vivid color placement
- Precision cutting and shaping
- Alternative and editorial silhouettes
- Custom styling
- Original character hair
- Fantasy, gothic, futuristic, horror, and unconventional aesthetics
- Performance and entertainment pieces
- Cosplay-inspired designs
- Concept development based on a mood, story, wardrobe, color palette, or aesthetic
Not every commission needs to be extravagant. A razor-sharp custom bob with an unusual color placement can be just as intentional as an elaborate character piece.
The common denominator is custom design.
The Consultation
Every Private Commission begins with a consultation.
Clients may submit inspiration photographs, sketches, mood boards, color palettes, wardrobe references, character concepts, or simply describe the feeling they want the finished piece to evoke.
During consultation, Levels By Lia will evaluate the concept and make recommendations regarding fiber, construction, color, length, density, silhouette, styling, maintenance, and overall feasibility.
Remote consultations are welcome and may be completed digitally.
Once the creative direction has been established, the project will be scoped and individually quoted.
Originality & Character-Inspired Work
Levels By Lia welcomes inspiration from gaming, horror, fantasy, alternative culture, film, fashion, and other creative worlds.
However, Private Commissions are intended to create original work rather than unauthorized reproductions of protected character designs.
References may be used to communicate elements such as mood, silhouette, color theory, texture, era, or aesthetic direction. The final design may be adapted or reinterpreted to create an original Levels By Lia piece.
If you want something that feels like it belongs in another universe without simply copying what already exists, you are in the right place.
Human Hair vs. Synthetic
The appropriate material depends on the project.
Luxury raw human hair may be recommended when realism, longevity, movement, advanced custom color, or a highly natural finish is central to the design.
High-quality synthetic fibers may be recommended for certain character, editorial, fantasy, sculptural, performance, or highly stylized creations.
One is not automatically the correct choice for every commission.
Materials are selected according to what best serves the design.
Measurements & Fit
Custom-fit commissions may require detailed head measurements before construction begins.
Levels By Lia will provide measurement instructions when necessary. Measurements must be submitted accurately, as the finished fit is based on the information provided by the client.
Certain projects may also require additional photographs or consultation regarding desired hairline, parting, placement, or fit.
Pricing
Private Commissions are individually quoted.
Pricing depends on the complete scope of the project, including:
- Hair or fiber selection
- Wig construction and foundation
- Length and density
- Lace or specialty materials
- Color complexity
- Cutting and customization
- Styling and finishing
- Design development
- Technical complexity
- Specialty materials or techniques
- Estimated labor
Because every commission is different, there is no universal price for custom work.
Once the concept and specifications have been approved, the client will receive a project quote before production begins.
Significant changes requested after the design has been approved may require an updated quote and additional turnaround time.
Creative Direction
Private Commissions are collaborative—but they are also artist-led.
Clients are encouraged to provide clear references, preferences, dislikes, and functional requirements during consultation. Levels By Lia will then interpret those elements through its own technical and creative perspective.
Because each piece is individually created by hand, exact duplication of photographs, digital renderings, previous Levels By Lia pieces, or another artist’s work cannot be guaranteed.
Your references establish the direction.
They are not a photocopier setting.
Turnaround
Private Commissions typically require approximately 4–8 weeks after the design, specifications, required measurements, payment, and necessary materials have been finalized.
Complex construction, specialty sourcing, extensive color work, elaborate styling, or experimental designs may require additional time.
Turnaround estimates do not include shipping transit times and are not guaranteed delivery dates.
If the piece is required for a performance, convention, photoshoot, production, or other specific event, that deadline must be disclosed before the commission is accepted.
Rush commissions are accepted only when scheduling and project complexity allow.
Shipping & Remote Commissions
Private Commissions are available to approved remote clients within the service area currently supported by Levels By Lia.
Completed pieces are securely packaged for shipment. Tracking and appropriate shipping options will be provided according to the project.
Clients should allow adequate time between the estimated completion date and any event or deadline requiring the piece.
Your Idea Doesn’t Have to Exist Yet
Some clients know exactly what they want.
Others arrive with a color, a character archetype, a dress, a game, a photograph, a nightmare, or a sentence that makes absolutely no sense until it does.
That’s part of the process.
Private Commissions exist for the ideas that cannot simply be selected from a shelf.
Not everything is meant to be understood.
